Both Vanuatu’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are yet to record a win at the ongoing FIBA Melanesian Cup in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

Since the opening day of the competition, both teams have faced tough opponents from across the region and have so far lost all their matches.

On Day 3 of the competition, Vanuatu’s men’s team went down to Fiji with a score of 123–61, while the women’s team lost to New Caledonia 64–43.

On Thursday, Day 4 of the tournament, both teams again suffered defeats. The men’s side lost to New Caledonia 80–49, and the women’s team was defeated by Fiji 103–42.

Both teams now have one final match remaining and are hoping to end their campaign on a positive note, showcasing the experience and fighting spirit they have gained throughout the tournament.

The FIBA Melanesian Cup 2025 is an important event on the regional basketball calendar, giving Pacific Island players the opportunity to compete at a high level and gain valuable international experience.
