iCount Yatel FC Starts Season at Bottom Despite Last Season’s Rise

iCount Yatel Football Club, last season’s most improved team, started at the bottom on Day 1 of the 2025–2026 championship with 0 points.

The championship kicked off last weekend at Port Vila Municipal Stadium.

The match began with intense action at 3pm, and Ifira Black Bird FC applied strong pressure in the first 10 minutes.

By the 12th minute of the first half, Ifira Black Bird FC defender Thomas struck a neat free kick that hit the crossbar, bounced off iCount Yatel FC defender Aderson Haruel, and resulted in an own goal.

In the second half, both teams had chances to score, but time ran out, and Ifira Black Bird FC secured the full 3 points.

Reports from PVFA also state that Mauriki FC topped the leaderboard on Day 1 after defeating Naka FC 3–2.

Galaxy FC and Ifira Black Bird FC occupied second and third places following wins last weekend, including Galaxy FC’s 1–0 victory over North Efate United FC.

Naka FC, North Efate United FC, and iCount Yatel FC placed fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively, after their first losses in the championship.

PVFA confirmed that Day 2 of the Vodafone Super League will resume this Friday and over the weekend at Port Vila Municipal Stadium.
