Solway Community Welcomes New Digicel Tower After Years of Poor Network

The community of Solway in Luganville is celebrating the opening of a new Digicel tower after years of struggling with poor network connectivity.

For a long time, residents in Solway, Palm Station, and Pepsi areas have faced difficulties with both Digicel and Vodafone services. In today’s world where communication is vital, locals had been asking for stronger connectivity for years.

This week, Digicel officially commissioned the new tower to improve network access.

Solway Councilor , Hon. Allan Awa, said councilors have worked for four years to push for this development.

“Under TRBR, the regulators have finally heard our cry. After four years of pushing, we now have a tower that brings Solway into the network of connectivity,” he said.

He added that the achievement is a major milestone for the people of Solway and nearby communities.

“Yes, it is a big achievement, especially for Luganville Municipality and the area councils who contributed to make this event happen,” he said.

Digicel Area Manager for Sanma and Torba, Clement Pakoa, urged the community to take good care of the tower, stressing its importance in providing better communication services.

“I call on the chiefs and community to look after the facilities and this tower,” he said.

The Solway tower is the third new site Digicel Vanuatu has opened in Sanma Province this year, following new towers at Showground and Bombua, to further strengthen connectivity across the province.
