    Santo Nambawan Shop Owner Arrested Over Customs Breach


    Police in the Northern Command have arrested, over the past two weeks, the owner of Santo Nambwan Store in Luganville for breaching the law under Customs.

    Police from the Northern Command confirmed the arrest, stating that they arrested a Chinese woman, the owner of Santo Nambwan shop owner, for violating the Vanuatu Customs and Inland Revenue Act.

    The arrest came after allegations of bribery and failing to declare imported goods.

    According to police, the Vanuatu Customs Department discovered the violations and apprehended the shop owner due to the false information provided during the declaration of imported goods.

    Customs has taken strong steps to continue the investigation, and, according to the law, police have already made the arrest.

    VBTC News spoke with Vanuatu Customs in Luganville regarding the case, but they were unable to release information to the media while the investigation is ongoing.

    The Owner of Santo Nambwan shop owner is currently in custody awaiting investigation and will appear in court once the process is complete.
