Big Wins for Ifira Black Bird, Galaxy, Erakor Golden Star, and Tafea in Vanuatu Made Shield Kickoff

The Vanuatu Made Shield 2025 football tournament kicked off last week at Port Vila Municipal Stadium and VFF Freshwota Stadium, bringing exciting performances from top clubs.

The competition, supported by the Department of Trade, began on Tuesday with an opening clash between Naka FC and iCount Yatel FC, ending in a 1-1 draw, with both sides earning their first point.

On Friday, Ifira Black Bird FC impressed with a 3-1 victory over North Efate United FC, dominating a match against last month’s Fit & Fierce finalists.

The action continued over the weekend:

  • Erakor Golden Star FC opened their campaign with a 1-0 win against Mauriki FC, keeping momentum from their recent Fit & Fierce championship victory.
  • Galaxy FC, eager to bounce back after an early Fit & Fierce exit, secured a narrow 1-0 win against United Malampa FC.
  • At VFF Freshwota, Tafea FC beat Penama FC 2-0 in a match that saw the return of Vanuatu legend and former national defender Freddy Vava, now playing for Penama. Despite the loss, Vava reminded fans and young players that “sport is not about age but about discipline.”
  • To close Day 3, Tupuji Imere FC edged Pango Green Bird FC 2-1.

Day 4 of the Vanuatu Made Shield continues this week with more thrilling matchups expected.
