Vanuatu’s archery team had a memorable experience last month in Italy, showcasing strong performances at the European Traditional Open (ETO) and bringing home two medals, a historic first for the country in this level of field archery.
The small team not only competed but gained valuable training and exposure alongside archers from across the globe.
Field archery, which is similar to traditional archery but played in natural outdoor settings like bushland—mimicking a hunting environment—marked a new experience for the Vanuatu team.
This was Vanuatu’s first time competing in Italy and the first time winning medals at such a prestigious event.
While in Italy, the team also took part in several short courses and training sessions led by international coaches after the competition.
The five archers returned home last week, proud of their successful participation and now focusing on preparations for the upcoming Oceania competition in Fiji.
