Solomon Islands Women Make History with First-Ever OFC Nations Cup Win

The Solomon Islands national women’s football team has made history by claiming their first-ever OFC Women’s Nations Cup trophy after a stunning 3–2 victory over defending champions Papua New Guinea over the weekend.

It marks the first time in the history of Solomon Islands women’s football that the team has won an Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) title.

Head coach Moses Toata says it was a dream come true to see his players reach the final and take home the championship.

“It’s a proud moment not just for the team, but for the entire country,” Toata said. “I thank all the clubs in Solomon Islands whose players contributed to this squad and helped us overcome the reigning champions.I ALSO THANK THEM FOR ACCEPTING ME AND PUTTING UP WITH MY PHASE AND THESE GIRLS ARE FAST LEARNERS”

The coach praised his team’s determination and the strong selection that allowed them to dominate throughout the tournament.
