Teaching Service Commission (TSC) is seeking leave to appeal the interlocutory orders granted in favor of the Vanuatu Teachers Union (VTU).
VTU lawyer, Mr. Andrew Bal informed VBTC News that the application was submitted in court yesterday morning of February 5th, with Justice Edwin Goldsbrough announcing that a decision on the matter will be delivered on Friday, February 14th 2025.
If the court grants TSC the leave to appeal, it means the commission can proceed with challenging the interlocutory orders issued on November 28, 2024.
The orders stayed the suspension and or termination of over 600 teachers involved in the industrial strike.
It also ordered the TSC to continue paying the salaries and entitlements of the teachers.
The orders are effective pending the determination of the Judicial Review Claim listed for hearing on the 19 and 20 May 2025.
