The Office of the Clerk of the Port Vila City Council received on the 25th of this month a notice of a motion against the Lady Mayor of Port Vila City Council.

Acting Town Clerk, Roberts Avio, said the office is waiting for advice from the legal counsel regarding the motion before he can say what actions to take in such a situation.

It is not yet clear what the reasons behind the motion are, but VBTC News understands that the Port Vila City Council was supposed to sit on 25 November to pass the 2026 budget, but due to the lack of a quorum, the council will meet again after 8 days in accordance with the council’s standing orders.

The Port Vila City Council has 17 councillors, and the motion currently has the support of 10 councillors.
