A boat with six passengers capsized between West and South East Ambrym, in the midst of a windstorm yesterday afternoon.
According to the Craig Cove’s Area Administrator, Bong Massing, the passengers included two woman and four men.
Mr Massing said, all passengers survived, and managed to swim ashore to several villagers to get help.
“One male passenger swam ashore and gained help from Marenta School to reach us,” said Massing.
“A search boat went on the look out this morning, and found that the other five also swam ashore, finding the boat captain at the Dry Creek and other four, further about the school.”
He said the boat left West Ambrym to obtain Kava from South East Ambrym, but could not manage the windstorm on its return.
Mr Massing said, the capsized boat was retrieved by a search boat, and is now in maintenance at Sessivi village.
He assured the public that no one was injured in the storm and are in good care.
